War Eagles softball team sees late surge against Lincoln

Wakulla War Eagles varsity softball team defeated Lincoln 4-3 on Monday, April 25, after taking the lead late in the game.

The game was tied at 2 with Wakulla batting in the bottom of the sixth when Freshman Kaylee Walker singled on a 0-1 count to score Jenna Cross, who led off with a triple. Lincoln got things moving in the first inning. Zoie Rabion drew a walk, scoring two runs.

Wakulla knotted the game up at 2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Junior Kylah Ross doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Brooklyn O’Neal.

Freshman Charley Butler led the War Eagles to victory. The pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over six innings, striking out 11. Senior Victoria Dichio threw one inning in relief, striking out two to secure the win.

Gwendolen McGinnis took the loss for Lincoln. McGinnis allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out eight.

Wakulla launched one home run on the night by Kaylee Walker in the second inning. The Ware Eagles racked up seven total hits on the evening. Walker and Ross both managed two hits and two RBIs each to lead Wakulla at the plate.
