As the Aug. 23 primary election nears, Supervisor of Elections Joe Morgan has been working to ensure this year’s election process is smooth and accurate.
During poll worker training Tuesday, he showed them how to use the EViD system to verify the identity of each voter, either via driver license scan or other means.
He told those in the training class that Florida uses paper ballots, so votes can be verified.
Beginning past Friday, Morgan said ballot information is available online through the Wakulla County Elections website at https://www.wakullaelection.com/, and eligible registered voters, such as those overseas, can print their ballots online and mail them in by starting with the “3 Ways to Vote” tab.
Voter registration deadline to register to vote or change party before the primary is July 25. Early voting is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Aug. 13 to 20, at two locations: the Wakulla Elections Office at 3115 B Crawfordville Highway, Crawfordville, and at Riversink Volunteer Fire Department at 491 Crawfordville Highway, Crawfordville.
Morgan encouraged voters to print out a sample ballot through the website, fill it out and bring it to a polling location because making voting decisions at home should make it quicker for voters on election day.
Local qualified candidates on the ballot include:
County Judge: Roseanna Bronhard, Brian Miller and Eddie Evans.
County Commission District 2: Fred Nichols and John Quinton.
County Commission District 4: Quincee Messersmith (incumbent), Samuel McGrew and Patricia Dyszer
Schoolboard District 1: Eddie Hand, Gwendolyn Staten and Dod Walker.
Schoolboard District 3: Cale Langston (incumbent, unopposed).
Schoolboard District 5: Laura Lawhon and Jo Ann Daniels (incumbent).
Soil & Water District 4 representative Cal Jamison is unopposed.
