TALLAHASSEE — Bobby A. Vaughn, 82, passed away on June 16, 2022, in Tallahassee, Florida, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 8, 1939, in Donalsonville, Georgia, to Eddie B. and Lillie Maude Vaughn.

Bobby grew up in Bascom, Florida, where he graduated from Malone High School in 1957. Bobby went on to Chipola Junior College before joining the Army National Guard in 1962. He served our country in the National Guard until 1968, earning the rank of Sergeant E5. Bobby married Dannie Sue Jones on November 4, 1962, in Cottonwood, Alabama. They were happily married for 59 years and had three children and five grandchildren. In 1963, he and Sue moved to Tallahassee where he attended Barber College. In 1965, Bobby joined the Tallahassee Police Department, where he served his community with honor and pride for 30 years and retired at the rank of Captain. Over his 30 years of law enforcement service, Bobby had many highlights, one of which included his graduation from the 106th Session of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in 1976. In his personal time, Bobby was an exceptional carpenter and enjoyed building desks, clocks, handicap ramps, and household furniture. But his true passion was home construction. Through the years, he oversaw the construction of nearly 30 personal residences for friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed helping them achieve their dreams at an affordable price. Bobby was a member of Lake Ellen Baptist Church for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoyed the many friendships he and Sue established there.

Bobby is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dannie Sue Vaughn of Tallahassee; sons, Stephen Vaughn (Lisa) of Tallahassee and Greg Vaughn (Danelle) of Crawfordville, Florida; grandchildren, Chase Vaughn, Emma Vaughn, Ben Vaughn, Olivia Vaughn, and Bradley Vaughn; and several nieces and nephews.
