Girls weightlifting: Hoffman, Poole represent Chiefland Middle High School at state

LAKELAND — Two Chiefland Middle High School weightlifters, Ericka Hoffman and Angel Poole, traveled to the RP Funding Center Saturday to compete in the 2023 FHSAA girls weightlifting state championship for the third year in a row.

In the 101-pound weight class, Poole, a junior, competed in the Olympic and traditional categories. Snatching 70 pounds, clean and jerking 105 pounds and benching 100 pounds, she totaled 175 pounds in Olympic for a ninth place finish and 205 pounds in traditional for an eighth place finish.

In the 110-pound weight class, Hoffman, a senior, also competed in both competitions, medaling with two fifth place finishes. With a 95-pound snatch and 125-pound clean and jerk, she totaled 220 pounds in Olympic. Hoffman also benched 125 pounds for a 250-pound total in traditional.
