WILLISTON — City of Williston Mayor Charles Goodman recently accepted a challenge. One that involves growing some facial hair for a good cause.
According to an email the Levy Citizen received from Goodman, he has been challenged to grow a beard from some of those in the community as part of a fundraiser to support For Our Friends The Animals.
”Yesterday (Saturday), I was at an event at a local park,” he said in the email. “The chief of police, the assistant chief of police, the fire chief, Drummond Bank (and) the airport manager all challenged me to grow a beard. Four said they would donate $100 each to our shelter and one said $25 to our shelter if I would do it.”
”The Rotary invited me to a lunch on Tuesday for a presentation fundraiser,” Goodman said in the email. “To set the record strait, I did not want to do it. But for the sake of the animals, I have agreed. So, when you see me scruffy, remember anything I can do to aid the plight of our abandoned friends, I am committed to do.”
It should be interesting to see just how long Goodman’s beard will get over the course of the next week.
