Amir Wilson of Lecanto is off to the races for a 29-yard touchdown run in the second quarter of last Saturday night’s playoff game against Pasco. Wilson had 307 yards and three touchdowns in the 45-14 win. The Panthers are back in action Friday at Zephyrhills in a regional semifinal contest.

The Lecanto football team may officially be the third-place finisher in its district this season, but as the second round of the playoffs arrive, the Panthers are the lone team from District 3S-6 still alive of the three that made postseason play.

“I was extremely disappointed before, but I had to be reminded God doesn’t make mistakes and put us where He wanted us to be,” Lecanto head coach Wyndell “Chop” Alexander said of not winning the first district title in school history after tying River Ridge and Gulf with 3-1 league records.
