Lecanto senior soccer standout Ava Rice was recently chosen as the Florida Dairy Farmers 2021 Girls Soccer Class 5A Player of the Year.

The Old Dominion University signee also finished second to 4A player of the year Maddie Young from Cardinal Gibbons in the voting for the Florida Dairy Farmers

2021 Miss Soccer award, following a final round of voting by a statewide panel of girls’ high school soccer coaches and media representatives.

Young received seven first-place votes and finished with 122 total points in the Miss Soccer voting, while Rice garnered six first-place votes and had 112 points.

Rice has been a key member of the Panther soccer team the past few years and finished her senior season with team highs in goals (47) and assists (18).

Lecanto posted another stellar campaign with an 18-4-1 mark and advanced to the Class 5A regional semifinals.
