Getting ready for the new season, even if you have played all summer, is not just a matter of getting ready mentally and physically, but also should include double-checking your equipment. Check the racquet for hairline cracks, replace strings, as many times per year as the number of times you play per week, and don’t forget the grip. Do not skimp on the grip by applying a double overwrap instead of a replacement grip. Your comfort and potential injuries are all involved; think tennis elbow. Shoes, for those of you that play on hard courts, check the soles. Generally speaking, you don’t get more than six months of use out of a pair. Soft court players; a lot of times the soles look fine as well as the rest of the shoe, but still, after six months the cushioning will be gone and that may be the most important part of the shoe. To prevent knee, hip, back and feet problems make sure you have well-cushioned shoes. Sunglasses; a lot of players don’t believe in them, but some research articles claim that using sunglasses can limit the premature forming of cataracts. Clothing; moisture wicking shirts, shorts, skirts and socks (cushioned) are a good choice. Refill your tennis bag with sweatbands, sunscreen (at least factor 30), tape, aspirin, water bottle.

Happy to see that two leagues have managed to add teams. Well done ladies. Hey guys, maybe for a change you could ask the ladies for directions in how to set up a league! It would be nice to see some more men organized and on the courts.
