I have been reading about the BOCC and purchasing the land next to the county ramp in Ozello — the Pirate’s Cove property. It does sound like a good idea except for county taxpayers footing the bill again.

It seems to me that with the purchase of that land, now the county will be able to expand the boat ramp there and have expanded parking that will also be at taxpayer expense. I believe that the Citrus County Visitors and Convention Bureau should use their money they collect from the visitor tax to fund the entire project. Since it will be of the most benefit to tourists and visitors, just like every other boat ramp in the county has become, I believe it is time for the Tourist Development to fund tourist items and not the county taxpayer.
