I would like to express my thanks to Art Jones and One Rake at a Time for his tireless work trying to restore the Crystal River. I would also like to thank the efforts of Save Crystal River to help with the funding.

In 1976, my husband and I purchased two properties on a small spring-fed canal across from Hunter Springs. When we built our family home in 1978, that canal’s small springs had ample flow and clear blue water. I have many happy memories of watching my children swim, play, fish and watch manatees, otters and the occasional gator behind our home. I also have memories of invading hyacinths, followed by hydrilla, the storm of ’93 and then the horrendous lyngbya. That beautiful spot turned into a smelly cesspool.
