Thanks to the Inverness City Council last Tuesday night when considering the agenda item that drew the most public attendance and comment: the Northern Turnpike Extension (NTE).
Representatives of Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and the Sierra Club made formal presentations. Inverness residents, county and out-of-county residents and organizations representing voters, airboat operators and horse owners spoke unanimously against all of the proposed corridors and the harmful environmental and traffic impacts to Inverness from any alignment being built.
