PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing the mother of his infant daughter.

The Pensacola News Journal reports Henry Steiger was sentenced Tuesday. An Escambia County jury found him guilty in June of second-degree murder.

Steiger testified that he discovered Cassandra Robinson's body in their home in February 2018. He said she had accidentally killed herself with plastic grocery bags.

Robinson was reported missing in June 2018, and her body was not found the next month in a 55-gallon drum inside a storage trailer owned by Steiger.

Records show Steiger opened a custody case against Robinson three days after she was reported missing.
