World Fusion dominant

The owners of the Asian-themed World Fusion in Lecanto are planning on opening another one of their sushi restaurants. This one will be in downtown Crystal River and will be called, appropriately enough, Downtown Fusion.

City officials are calling it a great addition to the downtown district.

“We are extremely excited for another restaurant and grateful for the investment,” Crystal River Mayor Joe Meek said.

The new restaurant will be located inside a vacant building at 525 NW 1st Ave.

“It will be a whole different look, a whole different concept,” said Erin Rice, general manager of World Fusion.

Their promotional flyer on Facebook said patrons will experience a “different taste, different atmosphere and different experience.”

More details, she said, will be released as the project moves forward. But the eatery will feature sushi and other offerings on the menu. There will be indoor and outdoor seating.

“We’re super excited,” Rice said.

The Lecanto World Fusion, just east of county roads intersection of 491 and 486 in Timberlane Plaza, will remain open.

Rice said she’s had her eye on downtown Crystal River and when the building became available she moved quickly to buy it. That area, she said, is booming and will only grow more popular once the Suncoast Parkway interchange at State Road 44 opens.

“We wholeheartedly welcome them,” Crystal River City Manager Frink said. “It’s a dining element we don’t have around here.”
