The Rev. Douglas Alexander as well as other clergymen and county leaders gathered Sunday afternoon on the steps of the Old Historical Courthouse in Inverness for a unity prayer.
The event was a prelude to the third in a series of community action meetings, which will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at New Church Without Walls, 300 S. Kensington Ave., Lecanto.
Community leaders, local clergy, representatives from the sheriff’s office and local government will continue the dialogue that began at their first meeting on June 2 and will include discussing plans for action toward the goal of racial and ethnic unity and peace throughout Citrus County and beyond, said the Rev. Doug Alexander of the New Church Without Walls.
He added that community officials and civic leaders will seek input from the community who are invited to come and ask questions. Community officials and civid leaders will then host a fourth meeting, at a time and date to be announced, to provide answers or actions to those questions.
