Officials with The Florida Bar are calling for the nominations of attorneys, judges and firms who deserve recognition for their contributions of free legal services to their communities.

Legal groups, civic organizations, other lawyers and regular citizens have until Oct. 24 to submit nominees for The Florida Bar’s annual pro bono service awards ceremony, which starts at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Florida Supreme Court.

During the 2017-18 fiscal year, Florida Bar members contributed more than $5.2 million and donated 1.58 million hours worth of legal aid, according to The Florida Bar.

“‘Pro bono publico’ means ‘for the public good,’ and pro bono legal service is just one way that attorneys do their part to help make their communities better,” a Florida Bar news release states.
