Firefighters at Dunnellon home blaze

Firefighters extinguish the last of the Dunnellon home blaze. 

The Florida State Fire Marshall is investigating a suspicious Friday morning fire that engulfed an abandoned home outside Dunnellon.

Citrus County Fire Rescue dispatched emergency vehicles to the fire on West Gene Martin Lane at 6:40 a.m. outside Dunnellon. The first on the scene was Citrus Springs Station engine 14 when firefighters found the structure ablaze.

Battalion Chief Scot Prater declared the fire under control at 7:20 a.m. Firefighting crews from Connell Heights station, Kensington station, Pine Ridge station, and Derosa station also assisted.

Firefighters finally cleared the scene at 10:26 a.m. Citrus County Fire Rescue declared the empty structure destroyed. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
