The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is investing a homicide off North Andri Drive in the King’s Ridge subdivision off Country Road 495 Crystal River, according to a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

Emergency personnel were called to the residence at 8:44 a.m., according to Brittney Carman, sheriff’s office spokeswoman. The sheriff’s office found a 77-year-old deceased male inside the home, Carman said. The agency does have a person of interest in custody. The woman, 50, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“We’re trying to figure out what happened,” Carman said, noting the sheriff’s office is unsure if it was domestic related. “We do not believe there are any threats to the community at this time.”

Monday’s death is the second homicide in Citrus County in less than a week.

Last Wednesday, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies responded at around 8 a.m. to a 911 call reporting fired shots off of South Monroe Street near Plaza Street, where deputies found a 32-year-old man dead on a front yard from a gunshot wound to his chest, according to a CCSO news release and Capt. Brian Spiddle at the scene.

Deputies also arrested a 62-year-old man, the shooter, on a third-degree-felony charge of carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, CCSO's release states. For an update about that case, see Page A3 of today’s edition.
