Jonathan Webb arrested Dec. 7 for misdemeanor failure to appear.

A Panama City man detained in the Citrus County jail was arrested Thursday on charges that he struck another inmate.

Jonathan Glenn Webb, 34, was charged with battery by a detainee by another detainee.

Webb is accused of punching another inmate in the head and face multiple times as the man’s slept.

Webb admitted to punching the man, but said the other inmate spit on him first. Closed-circuit television showed Webb punching the man as he slept.

“The victim did not spit on the defendant,” the report states.

The report did not say why Webb is incarcerated. Bond was set at $2,000.
