A young Pasco County man suffered incapacitating injuries after his vehicle left a Lecanto-area roadway and struck a tree.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), which has yet to release the identity of the Port Richey 18-year-old, the man was driving a gold Ford Ranger south on County Road 491 at around 6:23 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, north of Stage Coach Trail.
For unknown reasons, according to FHP, the man swerved off the road and onto the eastern shoulder, where his vehicle spun counterclockwise before striking a tree and a barbed wire fence.
Nature Coast EMS transported the man, who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson. FHP troopers cited him with careless driving.
