Ron Goodenow 2020

Friday is the day Ron and Michele Goodenow have been waiting six long years for: the opening of their $2.4-million Outpost Range in Lecanto.

And even though it’s a soft opening (the grand opening is set for President’s Day weekend Feb. 15), it's still exciting for the couple.

“Michele and I are very happy that this day has finally arrived,” Goodenow said. “We can’t wait. This is awesome.”

The Goodenows remind people that folks who want to use any of the firing lanes must have a range card from Outpost Range and have taken the one-hour safety orientation program (SOP).

The range will have the SOP presented over the three-day Presidents Day weekend as well.

Outpost Range is located at 2930 S. Cauthen Point in Lecanto and regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The facility features an indoor archery range, two five stands, pistol range and rifle range. It will employ about 30 people.

I have my own range on private property, no thanks.

They have already changed the hours and number of days they are open. I will have to how this plays out before I shuck out $300.00.

So much for me selling my property with gunfire interrupting the quietness I enjoyed.I applaud a gun range as i am an avid shooter but next door to where I live is a little close.

Very glad to see a quality shooting range open in Citrus County, safe and away from residential areas.

The cost of the range card is out of line. It's priced like this is a private members only club.

Great news! Can’t wait to go!

Looking forward to it.

Is the pistol range indoors?

Finally. Now I don't have to go to Orlando or Ocala for a decent range.
