Beverly Hills fatality

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper investigates the scene of a fatal crash Friday morning in Beverly Hills.

A Homosassa man died Friday morning soon after driving his 2004 Chevy pickup into the rear of a Mack truck on County Road 491, demolishing most of the front of his own vehicle.

Frank Sablinskas, 31 was driving north in the inside lane of County Road 491 near Beverly Hills Boulevard, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. About that time, Mack truck driver Robert Nelson of Hernando, also in the northbound lane, was beginning to accelerate from a green traffic signal. Sablinskas did not see the Mack Truck in front of him and collided into the back of the vehicle, according to the FHP report.

He was transported to Bayfront Health Seven Rivers hospital but died there. He was not wearing his seatbelt.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

We can learn from this. The use of seat belts and attentive driving just might save a few more lives.
