Make way for Slurpees

Demolition of the former two-story Bank of America branch in Inverness continues the morning of Aug. 19. A new 7-Eleven convenience store and car wash are planned to replace the former bank at 1007 U.S. 41 North near the intersection of State Road 44 and U.S. 41.

Just what Inverness needs are another Gas station and car wash. There is one across the street, and the old A&W has a car wash there. Why don't we tear down the other bank and make it a park-joke?

Didn't you know, Larry, that paying 7-11 employees low wages and few benefits for fewer workers is PROGRESS according to the BOCC, instead of paying bank employees higher wages with full benefits? Besides slurpies are exactly what the people of the unhealthiest (almost) county in the state need to maintain that status. Welcome to the Gas Station/Fast Food Coast. A beautiful drive is the stretch of 44 to I-75 from Inverness. I'm waiting for them to start up the bull dozers and start paving over that stretch, too, with gas stations, fastfood joints, and convenient stores. Because, hey, that's "Progress".
