Paramedics hospitalized an Inverness man late Monday night after the semitrailer he was driving struck a guardrail on an interstate in Marion County and overturned.

Nicholas Andrian, 54, was driving a 2016 Freig semitrailer at around 10:40 p.m. on northbound lanes of I-75 north of Ocala when he lost control of the vehicle, traveled into the center median and struck a guardrail, according to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report.

According to FHP, the crash caused the semitrailer and its haul of bananas to overturn, damaging about 100 feet of the guardrail.

No other vehicles were involved.

Andrian was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. FHP cited Andrian for careless driving.
