Phillip Sparacino, 70, of Inverness, was killed Tuesday morning after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole off East Highland Boulevard.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report said Sparacino was in the eastbound lane of East Highland, west of U.S. 41, lost control and went off the road in a northeastern direction and struck a utility pole.

The vehicle, a 1996 Eagle Vision, was redirected and eventually ended up hitting a guardrail south of the roadway.

Sparacino was transported to an area hospital where he later died from injuries.
