Ingoglia, R-Spring Hill, opened a campaign account Monday to run in what is now Senate District 10, according to the state Division of Elections website. The seat will be open because Senate President Wilton Simpson, R-Trilby, faces term limits. The district currently is made up of Citrus, Hernando and part of Pasco counties, though boundaries — and potentially the district number — will change before the 2022 elections because of the once-a-decade reapportionment process.

Ingoglia is chairman of the House Commerce Committee and cannot run again for his House seat because of term limits. Former Sen. John Legg, R-New Port Richey, also has an open campaign account in Senate District 10.
