The Glenn Browne Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament will be held Oct. 19, in Leesburg. The event will benefit the Suwannee River Cancer Association and Marion County Youth Bassmasters Association.

The Glenn Browne Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 19, on the Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg. The team-tournament will benefit Suwannee River Cancer Awareness Association and the Marion County Youth Bassmasters Association.

Browne, a long-time professional angler and Central Florida native, competed on the Bassmaster Elite Series and the FLW Tour, succumbed to cancer earlier this year. He was 43 years of age.

Entry into the event will be $120 per boat (maximum of two anglers per boat) if pre-registered and $150 per boat if anglers register the morning of the event. The first 75 teams to register are guaranteed tournament t-shirts, according to Browne’s wife Melissa who is organizing the event. Ski Beach will be the site of tournament take off and weigh-in the day of the event. Anglers will arrive back at Ski Beach no later than 2:30 p.m. for weigh-in. The physical address for the event is 201 E. Lake Harris Dr., Leesburg.

Guaranteed cash prizes will be $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second and $1,000 for third. Also, money will be awarded for the single heaviest bass of the event. A 50/50 raffle and a host of raffle prizes donated by companies from across the fishing industry will also be available for those participating and attending weigh-in. Major donors to the event include; Superchips, Gambler Lures, Campers Inn RV and Phantom Outdoors.

The FLW Tour is making their state-of-the-art, official weigh-in trailer available for anglers as they weigh-in fish. The heaviest five-bass limit will determine the winners of the event and all bass will be released alive.
