“Everybody can be great because everyone can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

According to the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?’”

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers invites donors to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King and start the year off in the spirit of community service. Bring a friend and donate blood during LifeSouth’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Blood Drive. Stop by a LifeSouth donor center from Saturday, Jan. 19, through Monday, Jan. 21.

The LifeSouth bloodmobile will be on hand at the Manatee in Crystal River Saturday and Sunday, and at the Inverness Bealls from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. LifeSouth will also be taking donations at its Lecanto and Inverness donor centers.

While many think of the holiday as a day off, LifeSouth encourages you to make it a “day on” by donating blood for patients in local hospitals. Just one blood donation can save up to three lives.

Making Dr. King’s dream of a better life a reality begins with action. Honor his life and find your greatness by giving back to your community. Give local, save local.

Visit a LifeSouth donor center or bloodmobile. To find a location near you, visit lifesouth.org or call 888-795-2707. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is required.
