Details were released about a vehicle crash at a security gate of the Duke Energy’s Crystal River Energy Complex that required two Ocala women to be airlifted for hospitalization.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) on Friday, May 14, 31-year-old Catherine Marie Cobb was driving a gray Dodge Durango west on West Power Line Street at around 2:54 a.m. on Sunday. Sarah Michael Purdy, 31, was riding as a passenger.

Cobb, who FHP described as fatigued, didn’t stop at Duke’s checkpoint, leading the Dodge to strike the gated entrance’s metal bar across the roadway, causing around $2,000 in damages.
