FFRA Dance practice

Richard Gibbs is all smiles as he practices a waltz Sunday for the upcoming "Top Hat" Big Band concert and dance in February. Gibbs is a member of FFRA (Friends and Families Reaching for Abilities), an organization that provides social and learning opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. 

,Family and Friends Reaching for Abilities (FFRA) will host the Top Hat Big Band Concert and Dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Citrus Springs Community Center, 1570 W. Citrus Springs Blvd., Citrus Springs. Big band Downing Street will perform. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those younger than 14. Refreshments will be served. KCCB to meet this February

The Keep Citrus County Beautiful (KCCB) Save Our Waters Week Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in room 180A of the Lecanto Government Center, 3600 W. Sovereign Path, located off of County Road 491. The purpose of the meeting is to propose themes and initiate planning for Citrus County’s 25th annual Save Our Waters Week. Friends of Chassahowitzka to meet

Friends of Chassahowitzka will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Chassahowitzka Community Center, 10300 S. Riviera Drive, Homosassa. The speaker will be Mary Opal, the director of the Nature World Wildlife Rescue. Snacks and free educational literature will be provided.

Clean out the clutter this February

The second part of the Cleaning out the Clutter workshop will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Friends of Citrus and the Nature Coast Education Center, 8471 W. Periwinkle Lane, Suite A, Homosassa Springs. This workshop will help attendees to understand why they cling onto certain objects after a loss and how to get past that and take control. There will be a Master Gardener plant seminar from 1:30 to 2:30 Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Citrus Springs Library, 1826 W. Country Club Blvd., Citrus Springs. Attend to learn how to propagate new plants.

Friday Night Thunder set for February

Friday Night Thunder will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at 1 Courthouse Square, Inverness. This month will feature cars and jazz music. 

Mardi Gras Bunco Party set for February

The Pilot Club of Crystal River will host a Mardi Gras Bunco Party from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at American Legion Post 155 dining hall, 6585 E. Gulf-to-Lake Highway, Crystal River. Artists to gather at Watercolor Society show

This year will mark the 28th Citrus Watercolor Society show and sale that has been conducted at the Ellie Schiller Homosassa State Wildlife Park. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Ellie Schiller Homosassa State Wildlife Park. This organization has contributed 20% of all sales made during the show to the Friends of the Wildlife Park. The show features many of the Nature Coasts leading watercolorists. Original paintings, reproductions, bookmarks, and note cards will be for viewing and for sale. For information on the upcoming art show and sale, visit citruswatercolorsociety.org.
