Due to coronavirus health concerns, the nonprofit Citrus County Education Foundation (CCEF) will have to postpone or be creative with its upcoming events to continue supporting county schools.

CCEF Executive Director Shaunda Burdette said Monday that Thursday’s All County Chorus Concert at Lecanto High School’s Curtis Peterson Auditorium is canceled.

Burdette said CCEF also postponed its other events over the next month, including April 2’s Nature Coast Investment Banquet, April 18’s Math Field Day, April 23’s Golden Citrus Scholars and the Superintendent’s Golf Classic on April 25.

CCEF did have to cancel April 4’s Suncoast Credit Union School House Hustle and Family Fun Run, but will work to turn the heavily-attended race into a virtual experience, limiting in-person contact.

In the coming days, CCEF will share an online link for race participants to visit and post videos and photos of themselves walking or running at home or outside, using the hashtag post: #CCEFFamilyFunRun.

“It’s to give the community something to look forward to, something for the kids to look forward to,” Burdette said. “It’s to have a fun day together … we're just trying to get families up and moving."
