Mobile home fire

Firefighters work to extinguish a mobile home fire in the Mossy Oak Mobile Home Park off U.S. 41 in Inverness. 

Citrus County firefighters were dispatched to a mobile home fire at 4:14 a.m. Saturday at the Mossy Oak Mobile Home Park off U.S. 41 in Inverness.
The single-wide home was a total loss and one dog perished, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue. One female was displaced and is being aided by the Red Cross, the agency said. The fire was believed to be started by a space heater. 
 

Participate in an adoption event in December

Precious Paws Rescue will host “A Home for the Holidays Adoption Event” at their adoption center throughout the month of December, located at 5164 S. Florida Ave., Inverness, inside the Colonial Strip Mall. The adoption center has kittens, teenagers and a few young adults all fully vetted, socialized and ready to move into your heart and home. If you need a special delivery on Christmas Eve or Christmas, come to the adoption center, select your new pet and make all the necessary arrangements. The adoption center is open at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The center is closed on Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Sundays. German American club dinner dance

The German American Club of West Central Florida will host a Christmas dinner dance with Eva Adams at noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club, 2751 N.
