The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has charges pending against a Lake Panasoffkee man suspected of robbing the Inverness’ Family Dollar and a city gas station in May.
Kevin Bellendorf, 47, is being held in the Sumter County jail after Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him following a string of robberies in Sumter and Hernando counties. Bellendorf fits the description in all the Sumter, Hernando, and Citrus County robberies, according to a statement from CCSO.
CCSO spokeswoman Jodi Sanders said Bellendorf was identified in the Citrus County robberies by security video.
Sumter County law enforcement booked Bellendorf into that county’s jail yesterday on two counts of robbery charges and one count of larceny. His bail was set at $42,000.
Citrus County Sheriff’s deputies on Thursday went to Sumter County to interview the suspect, which led to the pending charges from Citrus, Sanders said.
Sanders said more information about the Citrus County robberies will be forthcoming later today.
