Democrat Timothy Gilbert of Inverness has entered the race for District 4 county commission.
Gilbert will face off against the winner of the Republican primary: Rebecca Bays, John Murphy Jr., Phil Nichols Jr. or Winn Webb.
Elizabeth Kate Doyle, of Lecanto, pre-filed for School Board District 1, the seat held by incumbent Thomas Kennedy.
Also, Joseph L. Adams, of Hernando, has pre-filed for Mosquito Control Board, Seat 3.
Qualifying period for county and special district candidates ends at noon, June 17. The primary election is Aug. 23 and the general election is Nov. 8.
