Wreaths Across America 2017 1

Evergreen wreaths lay on veterans’ graves during the Florida National Cemetery’s 2017 Wreaths Across America event. The wreaths act as a symbol of remembrance during the holiday season.

Florida National Cemetery will host Wreaths Across America, a holiday wreath-laying ceremony to honor and remember our nation’s veterans beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave. in Bushnell.

The U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club is hosting the event to honor veterans of each branch of the military, the Merchant Marines, as well as Prisoners of War and those still Missing in Action (POW/MIA).

The event is open to the public and everyone is invited to participate in the wreath laying.

Following the wreath laying, everyone will gather at the flag assembly area for the ceremony that will begin promptly at 11:40 a.m. culminating with the ceremonial wreath presentation at noon. If you are unable to attend, please participate by taking a moment of silence at the noon hour to reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women of our armed forces.

The Worcester Wreath Company, through a campaign called Wreaths Across America, began donating holiday wreaths in tribute to veterans laid to rest at VA’s national cemeteries and state Veterans cemeteries in 2006.
