Citrus County School District Superintendent Sandra “Sam” Himmel put her name in Friday to seek another term as superintendent of schools.

Himmel, of Inverness, prefiled Friday afternoon with the county’s elections office as a Republican candidate for the four-year term. The office is up for re-election in 2020.

Paul John Reinhardt, a Republican from Beverly Hills, prefiled as a candidate for school superintendent in January. He ran unsuccessfully as a Democrat for the Florida House of Representatives District 34 seat against incumbent Ralph Massullo in 2018.
