A routine traffic stop by Citrus County Sheriff’s deputies Thursday led to the arrest of an Inverness woman now facing felony drug charges.
A Citrus County sheriff’s deputy said he was behind a white sport utility vehicle oat the corner of East Fort Cooper Road and Old Floral City Road when the SUV didn’t stop at the stop sign, according to arrest records.
The deputy turned on his emergency lights and the driver of the SUV, Andrew Noble, pulled over.
Sitting in the passenger seat was Claire Marie Beck, 36, of 703 Independence Highway, Inverness.
The deputy reported they saw drug paraphernalia in the center console. The deputy asked the two in the SUV to get out of the vehicle and saw a book bag sitting on the passenger seat. Inside the book bag was a pack of cigarettes and inside the cellophane was a small bag containing 3 1/2 pills, later identified as Xanax, according to arrest records. The bag also contained several bank cards.
Beck told deputies the bank cards in the bag were hers, but not the illegal drugs.
Deputies arrested Beck and charged her with possession of a controlled substance and took her to the Citrus County jail with a $2,000 bond.
