Authorities apprehended an Inverness man Wednesday on accusations he had thousands of images showing child pornography.
Lawmen with the Ocala Police Department arrested 39-year-old Joshua J. Faciane at Ocala Regional Medical Center on a Citrus County warrant charging Faciane with 50, third-degree counts of possessing the illicit materials, according to a Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) news release.
Faciane was jailed at the Marion County Detention Facility under a $100,000 bond.
Faciane worked selling medical and surgical devices, CCSO spokeswoman Brittney Carman said Thursday
Ocala Regional spokeswoman Lauren Debick also added that Faciane was never an employee of the hospital.
Members of the sheriff’s office’s High Tech Crimes Unit were tipped off on July 7 by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children of Faciane's alleged ownership of the unlawful images, according to CCSO.
Investigators got enough evidence to secure a warrant on July 12 to search Faciane’s home in the 5500 block of South Barco Terrace, where they seized numerous digital storage devices, where detectives uncovered roughly 3,000 illegal pictures and video files.
Faciane moved to Belleview after the sheriff's-office raid, Carman said.
Photos also showed a young girl, fully clothed, that detectives were able to identify and remove from Faciane’s contact. She told detectives that Faciane did not abuse her, CCSO’s release states.
CCSO is asking for others to come forth if they believe they’re a victim by calling its agency at 352-726-1121.
