West Citrus Government Center

Pictured is the West Citrus Government Center in Meadowcrest.

Tax Collector Janice Warren said she closed the Meadowcrest office to the public after someone who had been in the office reported having been tested for coronavirus and the results were pending.

“In an abundance of caution, we just decided to close the doors to walk-in traffic,” Warren said.

Warren said she didn’t know the person was who called or the circumstances of their visit to the office.

She said results of the test should be available early next week.

The Inverness tax collector’s office remains open, though only for transactions that require a physical presence, such as driver’s license vision test or title transfers.

Office employees are also screening visitors, asking if they have a fever or are ill. So far no one has answered in the affirmative, she said.
