Gastroenterology Associates

Construction on an expansion of the Gastroenterology Associates facility in Crystal River has started.

If you’ve driven by the entrance to Meadowcrest off State Road 44 across from the former Winn-Dixie store, you’ve doubtless noticed all the land-clearing occurring at Gastroenterology Associates.

Dr Trupti Shinde, one of the six doctors on staff, said work has started on a new building to better accommodate patients. It’s necessary, she said, because after 30 years, the patient load has increased.

“It’s going to be a new state-of-the-art building,” Shinde said. “We want to cut down the wait time for our patients.”

Shinde said she is seeking another doctor to see patients, who come from as far away as Hernando and Marion counties.

Gastroenterology Associates has satellite offices in Homosassa, Inverness and (recently opened) Dunnellon.

The Crystal River location is the main office and the patients will use the new 5,000-square-foot building once completed. The existing building will be turned into the staff billing department. The parking is large enough to accommodate the expansion, she said.

“This (expansion) will give us more room to see patients and give them a better experience,” Shinde said.

Gastroenterology Associates is located at 6410 State Road 44.
