About Family & Friends Reaching for Abilities (FFRA)

Operating since: 1997

As a non-profit organization, Family & Friends Reaching for the Abilities (FFRA) provides activities for special needs people, educational and informational speakers and support for parents and guardians. In 2012, due to a community outreach membership drive and a mailer, FFRA saw its membership increase over prior years.

FFRA was started in 1997 by a small group of parents whose children are developmentally disabled. This charter group felt that there was no single, reliable information source available in Citrus County to guide parents in making critical decisions affecting their loved ones. Membership consists largely of parents, family members, friends and other advocates concerned for the short and long range welfare, safety and quality of life for the challenged persons living in the greater Citrus County, Florida communities.
