Virtual Trivia Nights art

Citrus County Parks and Recreation is now hosting Virtual Trivia Nights at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Mondays of each month through 2020. Players can join from their computers at home and interact over video chat and an online trivia program.

Best of all, it’s free!

“Our idea for Virtual Trivia Nights was born out of our Virtual Summer Camps, in which one of the activities was an online virtual trivia. It was so popular we knew the greater community would enjoy it too,” said Recreation Program Specialist Andrea Cuccaro. “Join your friends and family as players get to hoot and holler between questions, letting us know if they were easy, difficult, or spot on.”

The theme for the upcoming Virtual Trivia Night on Monday, Sept. 21, is “How Well Do You Know Citrus County?” The night will include 30 questions about Citrus County — three rounds of 10 questions — with background research by Kathy Turner Thompson, historical resources manager at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum. She will also be a guest host of the trivia event itself.

“We hope these questions spark the participants curiosity and bring citizens to the museum to learn more about our county’s history,” she said.

The Old Courthouse Heritage Museum includes a pre-history gallery currently hosting an exhibit on the Paleoindians, who have left clues about themselves in Chassahowitzka Springs. The museum is also home to a local history gallery — the Mary MacRae Gallery of History — currently housing an exhibition titled “A Long Way Home,” which interprets the history of Citrus County from about 1887, at the forming of the county to present day.

Trivia fanatics can visit these exhibits and potentially walk away with a piece of history that will help them in the trivia game.

Trivia players can sign up before the date of the event at and will receive a link with the video chat information on game day. To participate be sure to sign up at least 24 hours before the event.
