Citrus Watercolor Society

The demonstrator at the March 13 Citrus Watercolor Society (CWS) meeting will be Terry Densen, the 2020 president of the Florida Watercolor Society.

I can tell my fellow watercolorists you are in for a treat. I have had the privilege viewing Terry’s work in exhibition, having exhibited in some of the same shows.

Terry Denson has been an Army officer, public affairs officer for a Texas state agency, owner of a management development and training company and a full-time cruising sailor. She studied drawing at the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore and at other institutions, and has attended workshops with a number of prominent artists throughout the United States.

She began studying watercolor in 1995, shortly before beginning a six-year sailboat cruise of the Eastern U.S., Bahamas, Caribbean and Central America. Seeking a medium that fit the limited space aboard her sailboat, “Door into Summer,” she chose watercolors.

After returning to land life, she settled in St. Petersburg and expanded her painting to acrylics and oils, but transparent watercolors remain her primary medium.

Her watercolors include many produced on aquabord, a clay surfaced ground. In 2003, she became a full-time artist.

She is a popular teacher and watercolor workshop instructor. She has displayed in numerous outdoor art festivals and organizational exhibitions throughout the country, where she has received a number of awards. She is a signature member of the Florida Watercolor Society, the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society and the Kentucky Watercolor Society.

Her paintings have been used as promotional materials by the Southern Watercolor Society, the Florida Watercolor Society, Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association, and several art festivals throughout Florida.

You can view her work at her website: https://terrydenson.com.

Terry will conduct a two-day workshop on Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15, at the Whispering Pines Recreation facility in Inverness. For more information, contact Nancy Vallimont at 352-270-8959 or nvallimont@tampabay.rr.com, or see the CWS website at www.citruswatercolorsociety.org.

They have opportunities to show and sell their work, take workshops and participate in monthly sketch/paint-outs, etc. For more information about the meeting, or to become a member, call Marie Sloan at 352-322-0002, or Wanda Boyd at 804-536-1794, or visit www.citruswatercolorsociety.org.
