The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) passed they keys to the Inverness Community Center building to the Citrus County Veterans Coalition (CCVC) on Tuesday.

The building is located on North Paul Drive in Inverness.

Members of the public, BOCC staff, CCVC members and veterans gathered to recognize the transition, with BOCC Chairman Brian Coleman and Commissioner Jimmie T. Smith presenting the keys to Veterans Coalition Chairman Richard Floyd and Vice Chairman Mike O’Brien. Victoria White attended representing U.S. Congressman Daniel Webster.

The building, adjacent to property that the coalition already owns, gives the CCVC additional space for storage, donations and a food bank for the veterans of Citrus County. The coalition feeds over 100 veterans and family members each Tuesday and Thursday.

Attendees of the key passing stayed for a tour of the building, and socialized with the many volunteers and veterans of the CCVC.
