What an eventful and inspiring month September has been for members of The Photography Club of Citrus Hills. The first meeting of the new season took place in our new venue at The Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church. Old and new members were finally able to meet.

Being the Labor Day week, many of our members were not in attendance. however those who came were happy to meet our new Advisory Board member Jack Twiggs, who brings a wealth of experience and ideas to the club.

A few technical difficulties meant the great slide shows Bob Feldberg prepared from taken at the field trips he led could only be shown on a computer screen. Nevertheless, members stopped by to enjoy the images.

The two field trips had been planned for the month of September kept members busy. The first one was a visit to The Rainbow Springs State Park to capture images of the waterfalls. With Jack Twiggs’ excellent instruction, members were able to practice and master the art of this fascinating subject.

The following week saw members at Cedar Lakes Gardens and Woods in Williston, for another great field trip. Once again, Jack Twiggs prepared us and led this event. Cooler weather made this a comfortable and fun trip. Members spent several hours wandering through, taking many photographs of plants, waterfalls, structures, insects and some birds.

All too soon it was time to leave the gardens, but not the area. Reservations for a group lunch had been arranged by Jan Bailey at the Ivy House. Members exchanged experiences and ideas, then after a fine repast, some of the group indicated that they would return to the gardens to take more photographs.

Jack Twiggs and Bob Feldberg, our trip coordinators, continue to plan exciting field trips as well as some interesting overnight trips for our members for the coming months.

The Photography Club of Citrus Hills meets at the Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 2540 West Norvell Bryant Highway, Lecanto on the second Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m.
