The customer service staff of the Homosassa Public Library, located at 4100 S. Grandmarch Ave., is planning a "plant swap," open to the public, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.
According to library aide Shari Taliercio, it will be a great opportunity for people to get to know each other and share their love of gardening.
“This will be our first ever plant swap. We got the idea from the Inverness branch where they had a successful plant swap last year," Taliercio said.
The event will take place in the library’s Community Room. There will be seeds, seedlings, cuttings and plants, flowers and vegetables. All non-invasive, indoor and outdoor varieties are accepted.
“There will also be a free table for folks who didn’t bring anything to swap, but want to take some plant life home," Taliercio said.
This event was strategically scheduled to coincide with a presentation by Citrus County master gardener Dennis Wassell. According to Taliercio, he normally speaks at the Homosassa Branch on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. This month, his topic is going to be Cold Protection for Plants.
