Kristen Nippers, the Beverly Hills Cadence Bank manager, and Harvey Gerber, who served as president of the Beverly Hills Civic Association from 2012 until 2018, will host an organizational meeting of “The Committee To Keep The BH Pool Open” Thursday, May 16 in the conference room at Cadence Bank located on County Road 491 next to the car wash.

Harvey and Kristen have put together a fundraiser called the Splish Splash Bash to be held at the Central Ridge Boys & Girls Club and in the adjoining skateboard park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13.

Kids from 7 to 17 and their parents are welcome to attend this free event. Hot dogs, hamburgers and sodas will be sold, and Bobby Darin’s “Splish Splash I was taking a bath” will be blaring on the PA system. Most retirees will remember this tune:

Splish, splash, I was takin’ a bath

Long about a Saturday night, yeah

A rub dub, just relaxin’ in the tub

Thinkin’ everythin’ was alright

Volunteers are currently promised from the Central Ridge Boys & Girls Club, Rotary Club of Central Citrus and Cadence Bank Beverly Hills Team. Organizers have received cooperation from Parks & Rec, where Director Francine Nobles has reserved the soft ball field and promised to lend numerous fun games for kids to enjoy including water balloon throwing contests, so expect this event to be wet and wild for the kids. Francine has also provided contact information on her jump house and inflatable slide companies.

The goal of the organizational meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, is to get banner sponsors with $50, $100, $300, $500 or $1,000 committed to raise the money to give to the BOCC so they will fix the pool for the summer of 2020. The permit process and construction process to do the $50,000 of estimated repairs to the pool will of necessity extend into the fall of 2019.

Anyone interested in attending the organizational meeting should email Harvey Gerber at hgerber2@tampabay.rr.com. If you can’t attend the meeting, but are interested in helping out the day of the event or assisting in finding banner sponsors, please also email Harvey.
