The annual Veterans Appreciation Week Veterans Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, at Lake Hernando Park and Beach as part of the annual Dragon Boat Festival.

As the largest Dragon Boat Festival in the southeast, it will afford participating veterans service organizations great exposure to the Citrus County community and the approximately 5,000 Dragon Boat Festival participants and spectators from all over Florida and the Southeast.

The Veterans Fair will be a focal point of the festival with static displays of World War II military vehicles, emergency vehicles, and the VA Vet Center mobile unit. Additionally, the Citrus County Veterans Service Office will be on hand to answer VA benefits question.

All veterans service organizations are invited and encouraged to participate and proudly display your organization in this fun community event. Participating veterans groups are also invited to set up donation requests at their tables for the benefit of their nonprofit organizations.

Veterans service organizations set up is Friday, Nov. 8, from 4-8 p.m., or Saturday, Nov. 9, prior to 8 a.m. The area will be secured by sheriff’s deputies. Awards will be given for the best veterans service organization display.

The Dragon Boat festival will feature competitive racing, music, entertainment, an arts and crafts village, kids play area, food court, and great food/drink from the Elks Lodge. The event will begin at 8 a.m. with the National Anthem and end at 5 p.m. with proceeds benefitting the Citrus County Education Foundation.
