Norma Brondyke

Norma Brondyke is pictured reading to one of the two Reading Pals students that she and her husband Russ meet with weekly.

Norma and Russ Brondyke, who have been mentoring in Citrus county schools for the past 26 years, added the "Reading Pals" program of United Way as one of their new assignments last year.

"Even though we also mentor students at Inverness Middle School one full day a week, we thoroughly enjoy working with these younger students as they are so eager to learn and it is amazing to watch them develop their skills. It is a great change of pace for us and we are extremely pleased at how Cheri Simek, who is the Reading Pals coordinator, has done such an outstanding job of keeping things organized and is always easy to contact if you have any questions," Brondyke said.
