The Citrus County Commissioners have issued a proclamation designating Oct. 13-20 as Citrus County Aware for Alzheimer’s Week.

The declaration was made on Oct. 8 in anticipation of upcoming events to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Family Organization. These will include screenings of “Mrs. Doubtfire,” starring Robin Williams, at the Valerie Theatre on Oct. 13, and a charity walk in Floral City on Oct. 19.

In response to the proclamation, Debbie Selsavage, President of Coping with Dementia LLC, the principal organizer of the annual Citrus Walk Aware for Alzheimer’s, said, “We are grateful for the support we have received from many individuals, businesses, and agencies throughout Citrus County, including the Floral City Heritage Council. With more than 60 businesses and churches now trained and certified as Dementia Friendly, we have little doubt that Citrus County is one of the most Dementia Friendly counties in the nation.”

More information about the annual Walk is available at alzheimersfamily.org/walkaware/. Tickets for “Mrs. Doubtfire” are available at valerietheatre.tix.com/.
