Art for PTSD veterans

A retired Levy County Sheriff’s officer is still carrying on the tradition of helping people.

Sean Mullins is hosting a free oil painting class for veterans with post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD).

Partnering with Paint the Town Citrus in the Crystal River Mall, the inaugural class will be on Thursday, May 30, at noon, right in their studio. All art supplies will be provided, including lunch, which is being donated by studio owner Diana Marsh, said Mullins.

Being a Bob Ross-certified landscape and floral painting instructor, he has selected a painting from the famous television artist, Bob Ross, for the students to replicate during this two-hour class.

“It will be downsized onto a 9-inch by 12-inch canvas, so it will be easy to transport home,’ Mullins said.

Mullins has been painting off and on for several years, and has been an instructor for six years. He teaches in a friend’s small art studio in Williston, and also teaches at Paint the Town Citrus.
